Green Light Awards | Sign-Up Deadline Extended

On January 22, we will come together to recognize leadership in green building at the 2nd Annual East TN USGBC Green Light Awards Ceremony.

The chapter is currently accepting electronic submissions of Green Projects in our region. We are also accepting nominations for the Green Leaders in our community who strive to build, educate and promote sustainable practices.

GREEN PROJECT SUBMISSIONS

The 2012 East Tennessee USGBC Green Light Awards program will accept submissions for Green Projects via email. Upon receipt of your entry form and fee, you will be provided with both a PowerPoint and InDesign template as well as accompanying instructions. To maintain consistency and fairness, modifications to the layout will not be accepted. Projects will be submitted in PDF form.

ELIGIBILITY
Any built project completed after January 1, 2008 in the East Tennessee region is eligible for submission. The Green Light Awards Program is open to projects of all types including residential and commercial, new construction, remodeling, interiors, rehabilitation, operations, and/or preservation of existing structures. Projects do not need to be LEED certified to be considered for a Green Project award.

SUBMITTAL GUIDELINES
The following will be required for integration into your submittal.

  • Project Information: Include summary statement, detailed summary, area and cost, date of completion, project code number.
  • Drawings and Images: Include images, plans, details, diagrams, or sketches as required to fully describe the sustainable qualities of the built work.  Clear communication of the sustainable attributes of the project generally requires a variety of image types and drawings. Be sure to indicate solar orientation on drawings.
  • Identification Information: Include name and location of project, owner/client, architect(s), designers, landscape architect, consultants, general contractor, photographer and all other team members. Also include the project Code Number. This information will not be seen by the jury; rather, it will be used to identify winners and for the Green Project Awards presentation. The entire project team will be recognized at the awards ceremony.

AWARDS
Each project will be judged according to its own merit and to how well it sustainably solves the problem addressed. Awards will be granted to built projects worthy of recognition because of their quality and rigor in addressing sustainable issues in the built environment. These awards will decided by USGBC Board members from another chapter. Winners will be announced and awards presented at the 2012 East Tennessee Green Light Awards Program on January 22, 2013.

Entry form and fee of $100 per project must be received by December 22, 2012.

Submit the entry to the cloud by midnight December 22, 2012 using given code number and template provided by email.

GREEN LEADER NOMINATIONS

The 2012 East Tennessee Green Leader will be chosen after careful consideration by USGBC Board Members from another chapter. We invite the community to nominate those leaders who go above and beyond in an effort build, promote and educate our region about green building. Along, with your entry form and fee, we ask that you describe in 500 words or less why this person deserves this recognition.

Entry form, fee, and nomination essay must be received by midnight December 22, 2012.
